Local band Tres Live is set to perform at Day and Night this weekend, a new venue for live music in Liverpool for 2012.
Day and Night opened its doors to the public in July and resides on St James Street, deep within the city’s cutting-edge Baltic Triangle. The venue is based around the concept of a changing day, homage to the passing of sunset and sunrise.
By day, the venue doubles up as an up market café bar bistro, offering breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea to visiting patrons. As night fall draws, the space transforms into a contemporary bar resonant with live urban music and fervent nightlife hospitality.
The all-glass building mainly hosts acoustic artists with live music featuring on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. An eclectic mix of live performances take place from open mic nights to full bands entertaining crowds of youthful revellers.
Event organiser for Day and Night, Stuart Robertson thinks venues for live music in Liverpool are in the ascendency.
Stuart told JMU Journalism: “I feel that live venues for music around Liverpool are on the increase with more bars trying to bring in live music to appeal to a wider audience.
“The main success is our Friday night which is a night hosted by a local events company, Lemon Hippo which is going from strength to strength. The hardest thing about the venue is the location, being slightly out of town means a low footfall and limited passing trade.”
Acoustic cover act, Tres Live have been gigging around the city since July and are salivating at the prospect of performing at Day and Night for the second time round.
Lead singer, Carrie Birmingham told JMU Journalism: “Day and Night is a fantastic venue. The layout and decor is extremely modern with great facilities.
“As an acoustic act the glass circular design of D&N creates fantastic acoustics for our sound. At our first gig here in September we found the venue to be extremely atmospheric and relaxing.”
Tres Live will be performing at Day and Night on Saturday 20th October providing a variety of well-known pop and rock acoustic covers.
