Valentine’s Day banners were hoisted above Liverpool’s business district this week asking the public what they love about some of the city’s notable streets.
Liverpool’s Business Improvement District (BID) has been garnished with 14 banners that stretch across the width of each particular street.
These new additions to the district mark the launch of a new campaign BID led by City Central, entitled ‘OnReflection’.
City Central represents 630 businesses in the retail hub of the Liverpool and OnReflection is their contribution to a new literary festival, ‘In Other Words’ – which takes place between 23rd April to 19th May- and will see the Central Library re-open.
Ian Ward, Chairman of City Central BID, said: ‘”The people of Liverpool are world famous for their passion and pride. OnReflection is a great way to tap into that spirit and reflect the love they have for some of our most famous streets back to the visitors of our great city.’’
Max Steinberg, Chief Executive of Liverpool Vision said: “The City Central BID team has proved to be very effective in the promotion and management of the main shopping area and the rewards are clearly evident. Liverpool has consolidated its position as one of the most popular retail destinations in the UK despite the challenges of the economic climate.”
BID will be touring their ‘love book’ around the city until late March which will include peoples’ thoughts on these locations. Anyone is open to submit their opinion via Twitter and Facebook by using the hashtag #OnReflection.
A selection of the public’s thoughts will then be turned into pieces of art and placed in the shop windows of the 10% of retail spaces that are currently vacant in Liverpool City Centre.
Each entry will be put into a prize draw with the winners chosen before the launch of In Other Words. Shopping vouchers, Cavern Walks and various gifts from stores throughout the city are amongst the prizes that can be won.
