A nine-year-old boy from Ormskirk is set to be the star of the show as Freestyle Motocross makes its return to the Echo Arena.
Finley ‘Rossi’ Beard, who was named after the seven-time MotoGP World Champion Valentino Rossi, is set to appear at the venue after promoters, ArenacrossUK and E22 Sports, announced that the last of their nationwide shows will take place in the city on Sunday February 10th.
The all-action, sporting spectacular will see riders race around a man-made track and perform jumps and tricks.
Among those participating will be Norway’s Andre Villa, a former World Freestyle Champion, and Finley – who will be the show’s youngest rider.
Many fans think that Finley is sure to be a big name in the world of Motocross and when asked by JMU Journalism the youngster said: “I’m looking forward to being in Liverpool. I got into racing because of my dad and can’t wait to ride here in front of him.”
Finley’s father Antony Jones said: “He can go to the very top, he’s very controlled and got natural pace.”
This sentiment was echoed by five-time British Freestyle Motocross Champion Jamie Squibb, who said: “He’s a great talent. He races well and one day he’ll graduate to the bigger jumps.”
Organisers plan to move over 3,500 tonnes of dirt into the arena ahead of the show and only have 48 hours to build the track, but they are confident that they can deliver a perfect course.
Promoter and former motocross rider Matt Bates said: “Here in Liverpool we will try some new tricks, the floor space is so big we hope to do a side-by-side backflip, which will be a first for the tour.
“The plan for the track is quite sharp with fast banked corners and some huge triple jumps so over the 3 hours I’m sure our fans will see some pretty exciting action.
