The Capstone Theatre has announced a new Liverpool International Jazz Festival which will run from 28th February to 8th March.
The line-up includes Roller Trio and Courtney Pine, with other performances by Led Bib, Robert Mitchell, Kit Downes Quintet and Denys Baptiste’s Triumvirate.
Supporting these jazz acts will be a number of free performances by Liverpool jazz musicians, including Blind Monk Trio, Martin Smith’s The Weave, Perri and Neil Quartet, White Canvas and GORP.
Specialist woodwind retailer Curly Woodwind will present two free saxophone workshops and master classes, the first of which will feature the famous saxophone recording artist, author and composer Pete Thomas together with well-known stars Bobby Wellins and Tony Kofi. They will be giving tips on how to achieve the best sound in your instrument. The second class will be giving advice on how to improvise effectively.
The Capstone Theatre has only been open since 2010, and in this short time it has already established itself as one of the city’s best places for jazz and world music.
A full festival pass is priced at £65. Individual events are priced from £17.50 to £10 depending upon event.
