Love is in the air as Valentine’s Day approaches and Merseyside Polonia has organised a special event to celebrate the international language of love.
The Liverpool-based Polish community will host the Love in Every Language event at the Bluecoat tonight, giving people the opportunity to unite and celebrate the languages of the world.
The event will bring together the city’s diverse communities to share music, poetry and stories that celebrate love and in the hope that it will give commercialised Valentine’s Day a deeper meaning.
Gosia McKane, director of Merseyside Polonia told JMU Journalism: “It is a great occasion to express your feelings in your native tongue but also an opportunity to realise that regardless of speaking different languages we all have something in common – love.
“Last year we had about fifty or sixty people attending, but we think the number will be much larger this year.”
“The event is free to attend and people can take part whether they would like to share poetry from their homeland, talk about love, or just spend a nice evening together.”
Financed by the Grass Roots Grant Programme from the Liverpool City Council, the event takes place at the Bluecoat tonight (Tuesday) from 6:30pm.
