A member of failed X Factor band Poisonous Twin has urged the people of Liverpool to vote for ‘fellow Scouser’ Christopher Maloney, after losing out on a place in the live shows.
Wirral drama student Sophie Houghton and Liverpool singer Steph McMichael performed in front of Louis Walsh and guest judge Sharon Osborne in Las Vegas – however, they did not make it through to the live shows.
It was a disappointing week for Liverpool contestants on the X Factor as, despite an impressive performance, Liverpool contestant Christopher Maloney from the Over 28s category also missed out on his place in the live shows.
However an unexpected twist means that the Scouse singer will go up against three other contestants who faced the axe.

Poisonous Twin are supporting Christopher to get through to the live shows.
Sophie told JMU Journalism that, as much as she loved another wildcard act, Times Red: “Of course we’re backing Christopher! We love him. He’s a really nice lad and it’s even better because he’s from the local area, too. We’re going to vote for him ourselves.”
Recalling her own performance in front of the judges, she said: “Watching it back was horrible. It was weird because I knew what was coming but it still made me feel really nervous.
“After you’ve performed you have a million and one thoughts going through your head. What have I done, could I have done better?”
Despite not making it through to the live shows, the band are sticking together and trying to carry on in the music industry.
“It’s been really positive for us, it has gotten our name out there and given us some publicity. We’ve already had a record label get in touch with us about recording a single, and we’ve made loads of contacts through Twitter,” she said.
Since having the time to think about on her X Factor journey, the Wirral student has realised other ambitions: “We’re going to try and do a bit of presenting, the Xtra Factor crew followed us down for a whole day at bootcamp and they loved it.
“I’m at the Manchester School of Acting so I’m going to stick at it and pursue that sort of thing. Part of me is glad that we didn’t get through to the live shows as we’d have been labelled as ‘X Factor Contestants’ and I like to keep my options open.”
