An aspiring Liverpool model is set to compete in an international beauty contest, after winning Miss American Dream UK.
Aimee Ormesher is preparing to fly to the Bahamas to compete in the worldwide Miss American Dream contest, after being crowned the winner in this country.
The 21-year-old described the experience as nerve-wracking and overwhelming. She told JMU Journalism: “It’s an amazing feeling to win. I didn’t expect it and you work so hard rehearsing. I couldn’t believe it. I was so overwhelmed and happy.”
The final that was held in Liverpool’s Genting Casino had three rounds, which involved a catwalk in a little black dress, bikini and evening gown.
Aimee told JMU Journalism: “I want to use the contest as a platform for modelling. It’s a big industry to make it in and it’s great to meet people in the industry and build up my portfolio.”
The hopeful from Huyton encouraged other young girls to enter beauty contests. She added: “It’s a great experience for everyone. When you take part in it you can still win by being noticed by model scouts. It makes you believe in yourself.
“Miss American Dream UK has changed me for the better. I’m normally really nervous and not confident, but it’s really helped my self-esteem.”
In preparations for the finals Aimee is having to juggle work commitments as a payroll administrator in Prescot and work-outs with her personal trainer.
She will compete in the Bahamas at the end of this month.
