Comedian John Bishop returned to his home city to perform the first of six shows at the Echo Arena as part of his ‘Rollercoaster’ tour this week, and locals were clearly happy to see him back.
The comic certainly entertained those lucky enough to have got their hands on the highly sought-after tickets.
Stephanie Belle, 26, from Huyton said: “He was so good, it was non-stop laughing.”
Michael Cannock, 23, from Liverpool city centre said: “He put on an awesome show. I’ve seen him live a few times and this has been the best yet.”
Amanda Haywood, 35, travelled from Chorley in Lancashire to see the show and was left delighted. She said: “It was fantastic. I was crying laughing at some stages; he had me in absolute stitches.”
Bishop hopes that the crowd is again a sell out at Wednesday night’s show as all proceeds from the performance will go to local charities.
Bishop himself tweeted following the opening show, saying: “Amazing reaction at the Echo Arena. Thank you all for your comments. If people want to come let’s fill Weds charity night!! #keepthesecret.”
It truly has been a Rollercoaster year for Bishop. In January he cycled, rowed and ran his way through a 295-mile journey from Paris to London for Sport Relief. He also recently made his acting debut, starring in two episodes of the BBC drama ‘Accused’.
His stint at the Echo Arena ends on Saturday with Bishop then going onto perform at various venues across the country before the tour ends in Dublin on 11th November .
