Liverpool One has signed its 20th letting of 2012 at the end of its busiest year since it opened in 2008.
The shopping mall recorded its busiest day ever on December 1st with a total of 172 thousand visitors, a 13% increase on the same day last year.
The announcement of the new tenants comes after the letting of shops to Kiehl’s, Moda in Pelle, Bierkeller and The Fragrance Shop. This already adds to the wide range of shops which was boosted in November following the opening of Harvey Nichol’s Beauty Bazaar.
Miles Dunnett, of Grovesnor Liverpool fund, told JMU Journalism: “This has been the best year so far in Liverpool ONE’s history. We have secured some of the most exciting and the ‘must haves’ brands in the industry, many of whom have chosen Liverpool ONE to launch a new concept or open regional flagships.”
Liverpool One is competing against other shopping centres in the region but is performing well. Sales in Liverpool ONE are currently 4.9% up year-to-date compared to 2011, and visitor footfall for Liverpool One is 5% above the North West and UK benchmarks.
Miles Dunnett went on to praise Liverpool as a city that has gone “from strength to strength”.
He said: “Because it’s ranked in the top three destinations in the UK for domestic tourism, it will bring significant additional benefits to Liverpool One’s retailers and restaurants which is why they outperform other chain averages.”
