Freshers welcomed in busy induction week activities

It has been a hectic but very productive few days for our new Journalism and Sports Journalism students as they have been settling into what will be a new home and city for many of them, as well as finding out about their course.

Induction activities began on Tuesday as the freshers were welcomed by lecturers and shown around the various campus buildings where they will be studying over the next three years as undergraduates.

Wednesday was perhaps the busiest of all, as students were taken on coach tours around the city and given a guided tour of either Liverpool’s Anfield stadium or the world-famous Aintree racecourse. They then met up socially in the evening for an enjoyable and popular quiz night on Hope Street.

The next day involved a Twitter treasure hunt which enabled the newcomers to become more familiar with local landmarks in Liverpool, and the week culminated in their first classes at Redmonds before formal teaching begins next week.

Head of Journalism, Fran Yeoman, said: “There’s always a real buzz around the university during induction week and it has been fantastic to welcome our newest trainee journalists onto campus. I look forward to watching them develop into brilliant young reporters over the coming months.”
