Graduates and upcoming designers are being given the chance to get their designs on the runway of the Liverpool Fashion and Lifestyle Show later this week.
The event at the Hilton Hotel this Sunday will see north west fashion designers gather, with an opportunity for eager stylists to showcase their talent.
Managing Director of CHIC Networking, Lauren Greene, told JMU Journalism: “By welcoming graduates and new designers, we aim to encourage more diversity within the North West fashion industry.
“There is so much talent and innovation which is being lost due to lack of sufficient funding or promotional platforms. By bringing new designers onto the scene, we create a unique experience for guests each and every time.
“The city has produced many big names which has been fuelled by the sheer support of the community and involvement in events. Many of the designers who showcase on the CHIC catwalk were founded in Liverpool and have gone on to design for high profile celebrities.”
An up-and-coming designer will be allowed to show off two looks on the runway, along with the use of a professional team.
Greene continued: “The Spotlight Package is our way of feeding new talent into the events through offering them a glimpse of exposure at a fraction of the price.
“Knowing full well how difficult it is for graduates and new designers to fund their promotion, it is the perfect opportunity for them to get centre stage. With over 700 eyes on their designs, it’s a stepping stone for them to make it onto the Liverpool fashion scene.”
Students with NUS card can also take advantage of a 50% discount on the ticket price.
Confirmed Liverpool designers who will be showcased on the runway include Mode Mwah, KU Spendlove, Francesca Couture, Fuschia White, The Dressing Room Liverpool, The Dressing Room Wigan and Style Clinic – plus mini makeovers, stylist tips and demonstrations from pop up boutiques.
Mark Melia, one of Liverpool’s most prestigious designers, will also be at the event launching his 2015 bridal collection. He recently dressed stars such as Carole Vordermann and Michelle Keegan.
