A Hillsborough memorial was unveiled at the Twelfth Man pub by Liverpool star Jamie Carragher after his side’s 1-1 draw against Newcastle yesterday.
The mural, which is hand-painted by artist John Potter, is taking up one wall of a function room at the pub formerly known as The Salisbury.
Members of the Spirit of Shankly supporters’ group had approached Potter with the idea of a mural.
Bjarte Solhaug, who witnessed the unveiling, told JMU Journalism: “Carra is a top man! The effort he and the 23 Foundation do for kids in this area makes a big difference and gives the disadvantaged the same opportunity as everyone else.”
Carragher, who was surrounded by eager autograph hunters when he dropped into the Walton Breck Road pub, has received several honours for his charity work, among others an Honorary Fellowship from Liverpool John Moores University.
