Wirral-based brewers Brimstage Brewery’s award-winning cask ale will be competing head-to-head with other beers from across the country in a national beer competition.
‘Scarecrow’ has been entered into the BeerX national competition, which will award gold, silver and bronze medals in each category, as well as three Supreme Champion Awards, given to the best cask, keg and bottled beers.
Mike McGuigan, head brewer at Brimstage Brewery, told JMU Journalism: “We were really pleased to have won the Society of Independent Brewers’ regional award for our Scarecrow beer last year.
“So it’s great that we’ve now been put forward to be a finalist in the national competition, at SIBA’s annual BeerX event in Sheffield. If we won, it would give a great boost to our profile, both in the region and across the country.
‘Scarecrow’ earned a gold award last year at the Regional Society of Independent Brewers and is described as ‘citrusy’ in taste with a ‘bitter finish.’
After being judged by a panel of more than 100 judges, all the beers will be sold to drinkers at the BeerX Festival of Beer with winners announced on 18th March.
