The Give Blood mobile van came to Liverpool One last week to encourage the public to register.
NHS Blood and Transplant needs to recruit new male donors with the negative O, negative B and negative A types.
Even though the focus this February is on males, Give Blood is still trying to encourage females and people from different backgrounds to register as 4,000 new donors are needed a day to meet demands.
A spokesman for the organisation said: “We need new blood donors from both genders and all backgrounds to ensure there is the right blood available for patients who need it.

“There was a shortage in O NEG donors this week at Give Blood clinics so we encourage people with the blood type O to go donate at their nearest clinic.”
The purpose of the mobile van is to help members of the public assess if you meet the criteria and help and make it easier to register.
Over the past week, Give Blood workers have been informing the public in the city centre about the importance of donating and encouraging more people to come forward.
David Hill, a team member at Give Blood, told JMU Journalism: “It is important to donate blood because whatever blood type you are someone, somewhere will need it.
“You never know when you’re going to have an accident and when you’re the person who will need the blood so we always encourage everyone to donate as much as they can.”
