The Christmas markets are back underway at St George’s Hall, for a fourth successive year.
The market reopened on Friday afternoon in front of many expectant visitors, and will run every day until December 23rd.
Opposite Lime Street station, the markets are host to almost 50 different stalls and features, such as a brand new Ferris wheel, karaoke cable cars and the windmill bar.
Phil Dooley, volunteering at the Scouse pie LHFC charity outlet, told JMU Journalism: “This is our first year with a stall. We’ve been very successful. We brought some stock in this morning thinking that it’d last all day, and we sold out within an hour and a half.
“There’s such a wide range of food on offer at the Christmas markets, but people want a little taste of Liverpool when they come to visit Liverpool.”

General manager at City Halls and event manager for the Christmas markets, Alan Smith, spoke to JMU Journalism about this year’s festivities.
He said: “The markets are getting better each year. I think what we’ve got to do is have a great eye for quality, and what we can achieve in the city.
“I think what’s unique about this market is that it’s the welcome to the city, so you come from Lime Street, all the major bus routes come past the hall and it’s a great platform where the space can be built upon in a safe, comfortable way.”
“This year is the first year we’ve brought a Ferris wheel – an amazing statement, something like £1.5 million worth of kit. To be able to bring that here, sitting comfortably next to a Grade One listed venue, and do it and do it well, it shows how competent and confident the market organisers are.
“Throughout the city there’s always been a Christmas presence, how we do it has been reconsidered and thought through.”
