A week of art-related events celebrating creativity is coming to Liverpool and other parts of the UK this week.
November 4th marks the start of #OURART19 in Liverpool, with each day of the week consisting of different events.
On Monday and Thursday, Steam Co will be visiting primary schools in the area, looking at #whatsyourart and the session will focus on different creative activities, such as rocket making and free books.
Wednesday is about engineering with the help of Google, to coincide with Tomorrow’s Engineering week.
The events have been planned by Steam Co, a non-profit enterprise founded by three parents from the same school, to put creativity first within schools, workplaces and the lives of people in the UK.
On Thursday evening there will be a screening of a creative educational film at the Philharmonic Dining Rooms and Pub, which features Sir Ken Robinson.
Friday and Saturday’s events are based at the Black-E Community Arts Centre with a conference based on creativity’s part in curriculum and a nationwide sing-along, talks and ending the week with a community dance event inspired by Kieth Haring and Malcolm McClaren.

Nick Corston, one of the three parents involved, comes from a digital marketing background and he has put his career aside to focus on Steam Co and its work.
He told JMU Journalism: “Our Art 19 week is all about helping our children dream and help them to find their passion. Steam co is on a mission to connect kids with artists, technologists, engineers and other creative people, getting those people to work in schools, alongside teachers to deliver fantastic learning and inspiring experiences for their children.
“Even though Steam Co was co-funded at a primary school in Paddington in London, our launch event was held in Liverpool at the Contemporary Urban Centre five years ago with two schools there and at which Ken Robinson spoke.”
The end of #OURART19 week coincides with close of Keith Haring’s exhibition at the Tate Liverpool, something that the team felt they wanted to celebrate.
