A children’s charity which looks after the most sick and vulnerable kids has benefited from a lunch event held in Chester.
The event on Thursday, which was held at the Chester Grosvenor Hotel, raised more than £5,000 for the Hope House charity.
Hope House Children’s Hospices, based in Cheshire and North Wales, provides respite and end-of-life care to babies, children and young people, along with offering bereavement support for their families.
Nicola Sciarrillo from Hope House told JMU Journalism: “We’ve had great support from the local community and we’re here to raise money to continue paying our nurses and look after the families that need us.”
A sum of £5,400 was raised through donations from a raffle and games such as charity squares.
Nicola added: “The event was so successful, and the singing waiters were a huge surprise. It’s nice to give back to our supporters. Without them the doors to Hope House wouldn’t be open.”

This is the second year the Ladies Lunch, sponsored by Thornley Leisure Parks and Crime Prevention Services, has been held. The £40 entrance ticket included a two-course meal, an afternoon tea and a glass of prosecco as well as a range of entertainment for the guests.
Alison Shay from candle company, Dexter and Mason, which also sponsored the event, told JMU Journalism: “Our company has been a supporter of Hope House for a couple of years, as they do amazing work for children with life-limiting illnesses.
“The lunch is a fantastic event that enables us to give something back to Hope House and once again it’s been a huge success.”
Hope House will hold several upcoming fundraisers, including a four-mile walk on the coastline of Barmouth and a skydive at Tilstock Airfield in July.
