Help and guidance are on hand for students who are suffering as Liverpool John Moores University hosts a series of wellbeing events across each campus this week.
Activities ranging from yoga sessions to music jamming will be taking place over the next few days to provide an opportunity for both staff and students to try out new ways to stay happy and healthy.
The events will look to enable different ideas on mental and physical health, while giving everyone who wants to get involved the chance to spend time with peers and meet new people.
Working on the body can have a positive impact on the mind, according to LJMU mental health counsellor Sile MacRaghnaill, who told JMUJournalism: “Things like yoga, meditation and other aspects of physical health allow people to calm their mind down. Going to exercise a couple of times a week is as effective as an anti-depressant.”
The theme of the week is “use your voice” which is in place to encourage staff and students to speak up about their wellbeing, share their experiences, promote a healthy work/life balance and self care.

There are events running from Monday to Friday for this week specifically, although the university’s health and well-being team expressed the importance of maintaining good health all year round.
Support for LJMU students and staff is available throughout the academic year and you can find out more information about the help available and events taking place this week here.
