The latest addition to Liverpool’s expanding food scene is set to appear down by the waterfront this spring, with the introduction of the Dockside Dining Club.
A new social street market is coming to Mann Island by the Three Graces at the Pier Head, offering food, live music and pop-up shops for arts events.
Andy Duckworth, who is the founder of the Dockside Dining Club, has high hopes for his latest venture. He told JMU Journalism: “Liverpool’s independent scene has exploded, especially in the past 10 years since the Capital of Culture. It gave those that were creative with food and ideas a platform to shine.”
He says the dining club aims to not only accommodate 10 street vendors, but also a creative space for local businesses, placed directly next door to the OpenEye Gallery and RIBA North Space. In the next few weeks, the venue will start to take shape and Mr Duckworth suggests partnerships with local artists will help to build an interactive environment.
He said: “We’d like to start collaborating with our neighbours and with city stakeholders in order to get the very most out of the space for everyone to enjoy.”
With local competition fierce, Mr Duckworth said: “We’d like to think we compliment the Baltic Food Market. The Independent Liverpool guys are doing amazingly well down there and have some great vendors too. We’re the same but different and that’s good, and healthy in a city this size.”
