LJMU’s Ultimate Frisbee club have glided into the spotlight after being named one of the universities top three clubs.
The nomination forms part of the LiverpoolSU Loves You Awards 2017, which are set to take place in St George’s Hall on Wednesday March 29th from 7pm.
Ultimate Frisbee is a unique sport in which players pass each other a flying disk with the aim to reach teammates at the opposing end zone in order to score points.
The game has become increasingly popular, particularly with LJMU students, and as a result the Liverpool Ultimate Frisbee team was born. Since beginning its membership has nearly tripled in numbers from 27 to 77.
Matt Melling, the co-founder of the club, told JMU Journalism: “After listening to our nominations from members of what the club is like, and from their own judgement, LiverpoolSU decided we are one of the top three new student groups.
“We are the only sports team in the top three, and this basically symbolises the success we have had this year in creating the club after many attempts during previous years had failed.”
The awards ceremony acts as a chance for everyone to acknowledge and celebrate all of the hard work student volunteers put in to make Student Union clubs and societies what they are, whilst also celebrating their achievements in the past year.
