Staff at a Liverpool hotel are getting on their bike in a good cause but without leaving the building.
The Pullman Hotel will be fundraising over the year for children’s charity, KIND, with one of their challenges being a 211-mile bike ride… all from the comfort of their own lobby.
Sales co-ordinator, Steph Tully, 29, told JMU Journalism: “Pullman Liverpool has chosen KIND as its charity of the year and we have expressed particular interest in the charity due to the fantastic impact it has on the city.
“We will be holding a series of fundraising events at the hotel over the next year with an aim to raise £1,500 for KIND. In our first fundraising event Pullman Liverpool staff will be cycling the equivalent distance from the Liverpool Pullman to the London Pullman Hotel, on an exercise bike.”
The team are no strangers to fundraising events, as they have done the Scouse 5K and the Gung Ho 5K in Everton Park in 2016 for the Royal Liverpool Hospital’s R charity, raising over £700 in total.
Their bike ride for KIND will take place on March 30th and 31st.
KIND aims to help disadvantaged children and families from across the most deprived areas of Liverpool and Merseyside. They offer a range of educational activities, projects and support that improves their confidence, education and health.

Steph added: “We were shocked and saddened to learn how many families in our city live in poverty and at Pullman we care deeply for the community in which we operate in. Our bike ride is going to be a huge challenge for us.
“Each of our team members must cycle at least 10 miles in one hour to reach our target so this isn’t going to be easy. On top of this we have to do it in the middle of a busy hotel reception on our busiest days.”
There hasn’t been much time to fit any training in for the bike ride, as Steph told JMU Journalism: “On the day it will take everything our team have got to reach the target. However, we are confident with the spirit and passion of the team and the support of the public that we can do it.”
Donations can be made online and charity buckets that will be in their reception over the course of the event.
