A man found dead in Liverpool city centre yesterday morning is believed to have been homeless.
The deceased man, in his 30s, was reported to emergency services at 7.55am on Monday after a member of the public spotted his body in the bushes close to the University of Liverpool campus.
Police and ambulance crews soon arrived at the scene, at the junction of Brownlow Hill and Crown Street, while rush hour traffic built up.
The death was initially thought to be ‘suspicious’ although foul play has since been ruled out.
A large section of the surrounding area was cordoned off with tape lining the road and trees from Grove Street to West Derby Street.
The man in question has been identified by Merseyside Police, who have revealed he was of no fixed address.
A spokesperson added: “Merseyside Police can confirm that the death of a man, whose body was found in the Brownlow Hill area this morning, Monday 6 March, is not being treated as suspicious.”
A post mortem took place yesterday afternoon but the results have been withheld pending toxicology reports, according to the Liverpool Echo.
He is the second rough sleeper to have died in the city in recent months after another man was found dead in a city centre gateway in January.
