After gaining a BA in Journalism, Rachel started her career at the Tameside Reporter before moving onto national press agencies in Manchester and Yorkshire, where she wrote for most tabloid newspapers and women’s weekly magazines.
Rachel was a feature writer for the News of the World in London before moving to Australia, where she wrote for That’s Life magazine in Sydney.
On her return to the UK, she became a staff reporter for the Manchester Evening News and features editor for its sister paper Metro News, while completing an MA in Creative Writing.
Rachel has since contributed to various publications, including Mirror Online and the National Union of Journalists’ magazine The Journalist, as a freelance reporter.
She has a PGC in Academic Practice and is currently researching her PhD, on the reporting of poverty and protest in Manchester in the mid-nineteenth century, at LJMU.
