One of the city’s most recognisable figures, Liverpool hairdresser and charity fundraiser, Herbert Howe, has died at the age of 72.
It was announced that Howe lost his long battle with cancer in the early hours of this morning, with many mourning the colourful character.

The owner and founder of Herbert of Liverpool raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for good causes. In 2007, he launched his own charity platform, Queenie’s Christmas, in honour of his late mum.
The charity held Christmas lunches in Liverpool hotels such as the Adelphi, Crowne Plaza and Titanic to make Christmas Day special for those with no family or friends to share the occasion with.
Herbert raised £10,000 at last year’s Queenie’s Christmas event, despite being diagnosed with seven brain tumours.
The legendary stylist and businessman was recognised for his charitable efforts with a Humanitarian Award from the Fellowship of British Hairdressing. Mr Howe also briefly stood as an independent candidate for Mayor of Liverpool in 2012.
