ACC Liverpool has scored a hat-trick after being named Best UK Conference Centre for the third year running at the M& IT Industry Awards, hosted by magazine Meetings and Incentive Travel.
The ceremony was held at Battersea Evolution, London, and celebrates the best UK venues, destinations and suppliers in the events industry, as voted for by meeting industry professionals.
Liverpool Convention Bureau was awarded silver in the Best UK Convention Bureau category.
Bob Prattey, chief executive of ACC Liverpool, home to BT Convention Centre, Echo Arena and, from September, Exhibition Centre Liverpool, said: “To be named the UK’s Best Conference Centre for three years running is a phenomenal success and testament to all our staff at ACC Liverpool.
“To have retained this award in the opening year of Exhibition Centre Liverpool, our sister venue, is a vote of confidence from the industry that our facilities and services at ACC Liverpool really are best in class.
“We would like to take the opportunity to thank those in the city who support our activity. We look forward to many more years of working together to raise the profile of Liverpool as a world-class meeting and events destination.”
The centre is a huge employer in Liverpool and hires 90% of its staff locally.
Kate Currie, Convention Bureau manager, added: “It’s a real honour to receive silver as Best UK Convention Bureau by those in the industry who are best placed to judge. As well as my team, who richly deserve the praise, I’d like to thank everyone we work with; conference venues, hotels, restaurants and the myriad organisations that make Liverpool such an attractive conference destination.
“Ahead of such a busy year, this comes as a real boost for the team and we will hopefully see more high-profile conferences choosing Liverpool.”
