Liverpool One saw its best year yet with over 27 million shoppers visiting it during 2014.
The record footfall was 45 per cent higher than its first full year in 2009 and 15 per cent ahead of the 2013 festive period.
Liverpool One’s owner, Grosvenor, bragged almost 500,000-strong visitors between Boxing Day and New Year’s Eve.
Miles Dunnett, director of Portfolio Management at Grosvenor, said: “This has been our best-ever Christmas, with Liverpool One performing significantly ahead of the industry benchmarks for both sales and footfall.
“Key to our success has been the investment made in our offer, which was boosted by 22 new brands last year, many making their regional debut, and Liverpool One’s position as so much more than somewhere to shop. This has been our best-ever Christmas.”
In 2014, Liverpool One made room for 40,000 sq ft of restaurants as well as the opening of Zara’s new regional flagship, and the first Michael Kors in the North West.
The outdoor shopping centre is now 99% let or under offer and 90% of the new stores in the last two years have made their North West debuts in Liverpool One. This has contributed to the 52% increase in trading experienced since its opening in 2008.
Bars and restaurants contributed strongly to its overall performance with new brands including Côte, Tortilla, Bill’s, TGI Friday’s and Manzo joining the line-up.
Liverpool One’s Estate Director, Chris Bliss, said: “2014 was a record-breaking year for Liverpool ONE with outstanding results from beginning to end.
“We experienced exceptional footfall at the start of the year with almost 10% growth in January and finished with our busiest Christmas period on record.
“2015 is set to be another exciting year for Liverpool One. As we continue to welcome more and more visitors from the city and beyond we’ll also unveil new brands, ensuring the offer at Liverpool One continues to exceed expectations.”
