The father of a young man who was murdered outside his home in Fazakerly a year ago this week has pleaded for people to come forward with information regarding his son’s death.
Shortly before 8pm on 2nd December 2012, Jamie Starkey was shot several times by a lone gunman as he stood by his car outside his house.
Following the shooting, four men from Everton were arrested but due to lack of evidence the men have been released on bail.
Jamie’s father Richard, told the Liverpool Echo: “I know who killed Jamie and so do the police. I can tell you the fella who pulled the trigger. But the police need evidence and they need people to come forward.
Detective Alyson O’Donnell told the Echo: “This was a cold-blooded, calculated shooting and there is no doubt that the offender meant to kill Jamie on that night.”
Seven months after the death of Jamie, his girlfriend gave birth to a baby boy, and despite Jamie not even knowing about his partner’s pregnancy, his son was named Jamie Daniel in commemoration of his father.
On the Facebook page, RIP Jamie Starkey GBNF, a post read: “A year today we lost a good lad still can’t believe your gone little man hope you’re looking down on everyone today see you when my time is up.”
