The city’s Baltic Triangle will play host to a collection of internationally-recognised creative talent next week as part of the Liverpool X showcase.
The 24-hour event will take place on November 20th from 9am onwards in a variety of venues around the area, including the Camp and Furnace and Elevator Bar, aiming to explore the city’s economy, cultural history and future.
Key speakers will include political thinker Phillip Blond, renowned architect Will Alsop, New York-based editor of Vice magazine, Andy Capper, plus design expert and commentator, Stephen Bayley.
Music and entertainment will be provided courtesy of an eclectic mix of acts including Liverpool’s own Nadine Carina and Kalax, alongside national electronic act Glimpse and others.
Also on the lineup will be editor and author Paul Du Noyer, broadcaster Roger Hill, Liverpool Biennial Director Sally Tallant, Bido Lito editor Craig Pennington and Sound City CEO Dave Pichilingi.
Topics to be covered include Liverpool’s future as an economic and cultural powerhouse and its transformation from trade port to business pioneer, in addition to the role of religion in the city’s history and identity.
The event has been conceived and co-ordinated by Liverpool creative agency Archetype in collaboration with journalist and broadcaster Liam Fogarty, with backing from Liverpool Vision, Baltic Creative and the Plus Dane housing group.
Jon Egan, Managing Director of Archetype, said: “We thought the time was right to ask some fundamental questions about where the city is heading and whether it still retains the capacity for radical thought and expression.
“We believe we have brought together contributors who will have something lasting and thought-provoking to say about the city.”
Josh Burke, of Liverpool-based promotions company Waxxx, which is running the event in partnership with Archetype, said: “We were excited to come on board when we saw the scope of the event. We felt it was a natural fit for us and something we’d like to be part of going forward.
“I was so happy to be able to bring some of Liverpool’s best promoters together for one night where we weren’t in competition, but working with one another.”
The event is free and open to the public, with tickets available from the Liverpool X website.
