Pop nostalgia fans are celebrating today as boy bands McFly and Busted have announced they are to join forces, with a UK tour which will come to Liverpool.
Busted band members Matt Willis and James Bourne will join the McFly boys for the supergroup tour next year, though former lead singer Charlie Simpson will be absent from the collaboration as he works on his solo material.
Known as McBusted, their second tour date will be at the Liverpool Echo Arena on 19th April.
One Twitter user @alex_hughesX said: “McBusted are coming to Liverpool. Can you hear me crying!!!”. Danielle @hawkb0t4m tweeted: “Actually quite happy about McBusted tour cause they’ve acknowledged Liverpool, yay.”
The two bands came together earlier in the year for the McFly’s 10th anniversary at the London’s Royal Albert Hall. They performed Busted’s ‘Year 3000’ and ‘Air Hostess’, as well as the McFly hit ‘Shine a Light’.
Twitter account @celebritain tweeted live from the press conference: “Harry saying – 10 year anniversary is right time to do it, always written together. Why not make super group!”
Fans are already eager to buy tickets for the event and have been hoping for the singers, who worked closely with each other in 2002-2005, to come together for some time.
Twitter user @beckatic said: “I’m going to tell my dad that McBusted in Liverpool will be a great birthday present for my sister and that he should buy mine too.”
The bands will sing the hits from their albums over the years. They will also perform at Children in Need this Friday. According to ‘Celebritain’, the McFly boys have wanted to do this project for a long time and have said it will not interfere with their new albums.
Tickets are due to go on sale on Friday 15th November.
