The Albert Dock is set to see the return of the Liverpool Idol singing contest after an absence of three years.
Contestants will take to the idol stage once more to raise money for Liverpool Mencap.
The charity, which supports individuals with learning disabilities, aims to raise £10,000 from the event held at Pan AM on October 30th.
Sarah Lee, fundraising manager and organiser of Liverpool Idol, told JMU Journalism: “It was time for it to come back. It was a well-loved and successful event.”
She added: “I just hope it’s going to be a fun night, with lots of energy in the room. It’s the biggest fundraising event we’ve ever held. It’ll get out name out there and raise our profile.”
The singing competition will take the format of popular show ‘X Factor’ and will have a panel of three judges.
Brian Nash, known as Nasher, guitarist from the 80s band ‘Frankie Goes to Hollywood’, will be on the panel of judges, offering feedback on the seven brave hopefuls.
Lee joked: “He’s going to add a good twist to the night.”
Also on the panel will be local singer and songwriter Steve MacFarlane and vocal specialist Jennifer John, who has been giving the contestants vocal training for the last month.
In the end, it all comes down to the opinion of the 200 audience members as to who will be crowned Liverpool Idol 2013.
The money raised will be used for projects like Liverpool Mencap’s ‘Befriend scheme’, giving those living with learning disabilities a buddy, to give them more social opportunities.
The event takes place on Wednesday at 7.30pm, with tickets costing £20.
