A campaign aiming to prevent teenagers becoming victims of abusive relationships is being backed by St. Helens Council.
The teenage relationship abuse campaign, which is running until the end of April 2013, encourages teenagers to re-think their views of violence, abuse or controlling behaviour in relationships and directs them to places for help and advice.
Local campaign material has been produced by the council, including a leaflet with advice on caring relationships and abusive behaviour.
Councillor Richard McCauley said: “Abusive relationships can destroy someone’s self-confidence and have a negative impact on their health and well-being.
“Many people might not realise that they are in an abusive relationship, so hopefully the campaign will flag up some of the warning signs and enable them to make changes to their lives.”
