Police have found the body of Burscough mum Karen Simpson, who told her family she wanted to ‘clear her head’ before going missing on Sunday.
Karen was last seen leaving Tesco on Liverpool Road at 11am. A Facebook page entitled ‘Help Find Karen Simpson’ was set up, and over 4,000 people joined the Facebook group in an attempt to spread the word of the missing 31-year-old.
Her family said: “Would people please stay away from where Karen went to sleep, as the family would like their own time there. Please respect their wishes.”
Residents in and around Burscough began searching and distributing posters after word spread about her disappearance in the village.
Sniffer dogs, helicopters, and underwater search teams took part in the operation, which ended on Wednesday morning when police discovered her body in a field not far from her home.
Karen was suffering from post-natal depression, after giving birth to her youngest daughter in November last year. She also had two young sons.
