The Courteeners frontman Liam Fray performed an acoustic set at Liverpool O2 Academy this Friday to launch the Manchester band’s new album.
Their third album Anna went to number six in the album charts in its first week – and the 27-year-old frontman played six solo acoustic headline shows as part of the launch.
After an impressive support act from Danny Mahon, Fray came on stage just before 9pm to the crowd screaming his name.
Fray, who has previously toured with Manchester greats such as Morrissey and Noel Gallagher, started off with How Come, letting the crowd sing the chorus. “You have the best voices so far,” he said from the stage which was welcomed with cheers because he had been performing twice in his home town Manchester earlier in the week.
The audience was in good mood all night, and it seemed like most of the sell-out crowd knew all the lyrics to every of the 19 songs he performed – including B-sides and songs from the new album.
He ended the concert with the fan favourites Not Nineteen Forever and What Took You So Long.
It won’t take long before the ecstatic crowd again will be able to see Fray at the O2 Academy, as he will be returning with the full band when the Courteeners play Liverpool on their UK tour on February 25th.
