Europe’s third largest low cost airline will soon fly to Liverpool John Lennon Airport.
The airline Norwegian has announced a three times weekly service from Liverpool to Copenhagen, starting later this spring.
Norwegian’s new route is likely to attract more Scandinavians to the city because, while the route is from Copenhagen, the links from other Scandinavian countries to Kastrup Airport are many.
Management at John Lennon Airport welcomed the news, saying: “This is tremendous news for the Airport and the region.
“Norwegian are one of the up and coming low cost airlines in Europe and this is a very positive statement of the progress we are now making to develop the portfolio of airlines and destinations here at Liverpool.”
Norwegian Communications Manager Åsa Larsson told JMU Journalism: “Our route from Copenhagen to Liverpool starts on April 5th, with flights every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.”
Larsson would not rule out the possibility of adding more routes from John Lennon Airport in the future, saying: “We always look at opportunities to expand with more routes from other airports in Scandinavia but there are no immediate plans for Liverpool at this time. You never say never.”
