Liverpool’s own Coleen Rooney is one of the most well-known celebrities and half of one of the most high profile couples in the country.
In a short space of time, the 23-year-old from Croxteth has become the star of her own television show ‘Coleen’s Real Women’, and a bestselling author, with her autobiography ‘Welcome to My World’, which was released in 2007. She also has her own range of jewellery, perfume and make-up, but she is modest about her achievements.
The new mum says her work offers are all down to her relationship with Manchester United star Wayne Rooney: “I never set out to do the type of work that I have done, it all came to me as I was in the public eye due to my relationship, but I am really lucky and I have enjoyed all the projects I have worked on. I am very happy with what I am doing and have done.”
Since having her first child, Kai Wayne Rooney, the Hilton Hotel opening in Liverpool was the first promotional event Coleen attended. She says that because she has not done any interviews since the birth, it was quite hectic with the amount of attention she received from journalists: “They were all interested in Kai, the World Cup and if I was going back to work and what I would be doing.”
Coleen says that throughout and after her pregnancy she continued to work with Argos and Fragrance and Beauty (FAB), although it was mostly just meetings and working on new season products.
The paparazzi tracked Coleen down for the tabloids on a recent holiday to Barbados, but she says is excited about the thought of getting back to posing for her own pictures: “I haven’t done any photo shoots or PR yet so I am looking forward to starting them again soon.”
At the beginning of February, Coleen was invited to theopening of Liverpool’s Hilton Hotel by the owner of designer boutique Cricket, Justine Mills. For the event, the star wore a Grecian style dress by Lanvin and nude shoes by Christian Louboutin. Although she did not get to watch the fashion show, Coleen said she did catch some of it on the screens around the hotel and saw a few pieces by designer Alice Temperley that she liked and would wear.
The highlight of the night for Mrs Rooney was a performance by her favourite band, the Sugababes, and she said there was a great atmosphere in the room. The event was publicised across the city and beyond, and Coleen says the night lived up to the hype that surrounded it: “There was a lot happening as there was a fashion show, a performance by the Sugababes, top chefs prepared food and a free bar all night, so it was a pretty big event.”
