The city paid tribute to its unsung heroes at Liverpool’s Night of Honour 2012.
This year’s event, hosted by Hope City Enterprise, was held at the city centre hotel The Adelphi and admission was free to the public.
Many awards were given out to commend local people for their bravery, selflessness and dedication to helping others.
Liverpool Homeless Club Secretary, Steve Barton, winner of Liverpool’s Health and Wellbeing Award, said: “I’m over the moon to get nominated for an award, it’s fantastic. I’d like to dedicate the award to the homeless and Anne Williams and the Hillsborough ’96 because they really deserve it.”
At the end of the night there was a prize draw which included Liverpool FC and Everton FC signed merchandise which was kindly donated by the clubs, a meal for two at Malmaison and the new Mediterranean restaurant Gecko.
All proceeds raised were matched by Barclays bank and went towards the City of Hearts organisation to help victims who have been subjected to human trafficking, to help turn their lives around.
