Spectacular firework displays are set to grace the skies of Liverpool again this year as Bonfire Night approaches.
Thousands of families are expected to flock to displays across Merseyside once again and, as in previous years, the displays will be held in Sefton Park and Newsham Park where both firework performances will be accompanied by music.
Both of the shows are expected to kick off around 7.30pm on Monday November 5.
While families will be celebrating the occasion, Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service have launched a strategy to keep communities safe. The service staff will be out removing unsafe bonfires and materials that could be used to build fire in the run up to the celebrations. Sefton Council has also set up 16 skips at locations across the borough.
James Berry, Group Manager in Prevention and Protection at Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service, who is leading the bonfire strategy this year, said: “We have already had some build ups of bonfire materials reported to us in Merseyside. This allows us to act quickly and remove it from the streets so the danger to people and property in communities in Merseyside is reduced.”
Everton stars Victor Anichebe and Shane Duffy have also backed the service expressing the importance of staying safe this bonfire night by following the advice of local firefighters.
Planning for the Bonfire Reduction Strategy started in December 2011 and there have been a range of multi-agency meetings at Wallasey Community Fire Station, which will continue after the November 5 celebrations.
