Just weeks after Liverpool City Council announced it would no longer be hosting the famous Mathew Street Festival, a Wirral bar is hosting an alternative event for fans of the Fab Four.

The Coda Maine in Hoylake will play host to Beatles fans for the day on the 30th March.

Owner Martin Moseley told JMU Journalism: “We’re really excited to be hosting an even dedicated to The Beatles. It is a shame that the Mathew Street Festival has been cancelled, but we absolutely love The Beatles and so we thought it would be a fantastic idea to have our own event to showcase the fantastic musical talent in Merseyside.”

The event, named ‘Beatles Mainea’ will see a host of talent from the North West perform in a day-long tribute to John, Paul George and Ringo, including one of UK’s top Paul McCartney tribute acts and a DJ set from The Coral’s Nick Power.

“We’re really pleased with the amount of musical talent we’ve got on board,” Martin added.

As well as ten talented musicians from the area, the bar will be serving free Liverpool themed-food and will be giving away a fancy dress prize for the ‘best dressed Beatle.’

The free entry event will take place from 3pm until late on Easter Saturday.
