The long-term future of iconic Liverpool nightclub, The Masque, has been secured after a lucrative deal has been completed with major operating company, MAMA Group.

When it was announced on Twitter a year ago that the popular music venue would be ceasing trading with immediate effect, ex-director Graham Clarke then confirmed its closure and the cancellation of all upcoming shows in another blow to Liverpool’s music scene.

On December 9th 2012 the promoters of Liverpool club night consortiums Chibuku and Circus will hand over the premises to the MAMA Group for the immediate commencement of a renovation programme.

The deal will run in close partnership with Chibuku and Circus who have struggled to find a permanent slot at alternative venue in the past 12 months.

MAMA Group has promised an eclectic club and live programming planned for 2013 and that local promoters and national tours will grace the city in the renovated venue.

Liverpool promoter and founder of Chibuku, Richard McGinnis, told JMU Journalism: “The new partnership will create an amazing new environment for bands to play in Liverpool and augment the existing space through major investment in sound, light and amenities to complement the already thriving dance music business.

“MAMA group are established national venue operators with a proven record in achieving great results with other venues, such as the Ritz in Manchester.”

Both Chibuku and Circus have also announced their final shows for 2012, crowning a momentous years for two of Liverpool’s most popular club nights.

Their final parties will take place across the remainder of December, utilising The Masque and another of the city’s venues, Camp and Furness.

Circus’s Boxing Day Party will take place on Wednesday 26th December at Camp and Furnace Warehouse, while Chibuku Shake Shake will be hosting their last event of the year at The Masque on Saturday 8th December.

Chibuku’s New Year’s Eve Celebration at Camp and Furness is set to mark the dawn of a new era for the Liverpool club night that celebrates its 13th year in The Masque in 2013.
